Here is a link to an overview of The One Minute Preceptor. This is a great quick and easy way of always making sure that a teaching point is made in every interaction with the learners in the clinical setting.

As a reminder, here are the steps:

  1. Get a Commitment
  2. Probe for Supporting Evidence
  3. Reinforce What Was Done Well
  4. Give Guidance About Errors and Omissions
  5. Teach a General Principle
  6. Conclusion

It really does just take a couple of minutes when you practice it. The mistake that teachers make is getting in the habit of being too directive and just getting done with the work.
